Merry Christmas 2025

 Sorry, Spar. If it makes you feel better, the highway was bare and dry, and bare and wet on the 2nd trip on on Weds.

But…the road in to the parking lot was icy/snowy…and man does that car handle perfectly in controlled slides, something about having your butt near the center of mass, perhaps?

I didn’t see that earlier. Looks like a neat place to ski. My wife and one of my sons and I went to the Nordic center at Whistler (during the summer), and shot the biathlon rifles. I want to go up and ski there, one of these days. At least you guys have snow!

Yes, on my list of things to do is sign up for a “biathlon intro” course there, and see if I can hold my hands steady enough to hit a barn after skiing for 20 minutes.

I tried running a quick windsprint, then shooting. Still got 5/5 with the small targets (they wouldn’t let us shoot standing, something about insurance…). We have a local course (Steven’s Pass Nordic area) where they hold Junior biathlons (and an all-comers biathlon). My problem is I’m waayy too slow to run a xc race - even if I shot perfectly I’d still likely be last. But…it would be fun to try.

Indeed. I’m over the hill myself, and any pretense at racing is “fun to try”.

Suction cups. Holding a bike.
Would probably do for skis, too.

Not sure how Bluetooth is used on the rack, but ok. The suction cup idea apparently works well for the Revo Rack mounted on Miata trunks. But getting one stateside was a problem…maybe things are started to unclog, but once burned twice shy for this kid.

Apparently the rack uses bluetooth to report “suction status” to your phone. So I guess you get a push notification right before the rack flies off your car and your carbon bike shatters on the pavement at 60 miles an hour.

Lol. That could be helpful, I guess.
