Newly Patented High Speed Steel Alloys

Cool. It’s a bit niche for what you are doing, but it was interesting to follow the research.

I’ve been out-of-office the past few weeks recovering from knee replacement surgery…so far it’s healing well.

I’m always interested in learning more about this subject. I was traveling out to Chicago last week.for a gear failure analysis course myself.

I’ll avoid the knee surgery as long as possible. I understand the recovery can be very painful. But it sounds as though you are doing well fortunately.

Don’t wait forever, though. I had bone-on-bone contact for the last couple years or so. People who wait longer than me have more trouble recovering, because they lose so much muscle tone. I was walking on the joint the day of the surgery, and could tell that the pain from that contact was gone. The incision and muscle soreness are pain that I can deal with.

I bicycle over 1,000 miles every year, and the knee pain is relatively minor for me. So far, I think I am doing ok.

Awesome Maui!

What about Maulloy? ReaSteel?
Which ASTM do these comply with?

Thanks Ron! These are tungsten based high speed steel alloys that also contain molybdenum. There isn’t an ASTM standard for them since nobody ever thought of them previously. I appreciate the suggestions. I’m still in the process of selecting names for them, and welcome any and all ideas.
