So I finally finished it. All four Twilight books are in my rearview mirror and will stay there. I was determined to get through them all and see what the phenomenon was all about and as I said in my last post, the whole vampire thing was on my mind after “Interview With a Vampire”.
I guess it can be said that Twilight has a specific audience in mind. To me it seems like teenagers who have no idea what a healthy relationship should look like are the perfect demographic for this.
It started out ok, I guess, but once the vampire stuff started it went downhill quick. To me, it seemed like a story full of emotional abuse and horribly unfair treatment of supposed friends and loved ones. The constant “he/she loves me, he/she loves me not” went on…and on…and on for far too many books. The final book started out ind of interesting and I had hope, but the ending was just unbearably perfect and ruined it for me.
I suppose I can summarize it with this suggestion. If you have never read it and are curious about the story, skip it; it isn’t worth it.
