With OOMA, the basic service for as long as you keep it, is paid for up front (I paid $199). After that, the monthly fees are for taxes and access fees for 911 service. It was $3 and change when I started it, and it’s $4 and change now. Unlimited free long distance in the US and very reasonable per-minute international rates.
