One of the most frequent questions I’ve been asked over the years is, what material of construction should I use for pipe and fittings for a caustic (NaOH) solution?
I usually refer to this chart we have in our pipe spec for caustic:
The chart has three zones. Find which zone your caustic solution’s maximum temperature and NaOH concentration are in. Use that zone’s, or higher, material of construction.
