Heat transfer fluid options for low temperatures that are not ignitable

Hi everyone,

I have a portable temp control unit design I’m reviewing to see if an alternate heat transfer fluid could be used. The desire is to have an operating range from -85°C to 100°C. I typically use and have seen Syltherm XLT used for services down to -90°C and it can handle the 100°C. The main fluid tank is ~10 gallons, the pump is rated for 14 gpm. The vessel used with it is 100L W.V.

Surprise, surprise the area classification of the area (scale-up lab inside a building) and this unit don’t match and a purged enclosure version doesn’t fit in the suite without blocking other equipment. Does anyone have suggestions for heat transfer fluid suppliers I could reach out to for options that might have a high flash point or might not be flammable? I’ve reached out to Dow and Dynalene so far.

I have no experience with HTF’s below ambient, so take this with a grain of salt. We used Therminol HTFs. Maybe check them out. They gave us good service.
