How to understand a soak band

QUESTION
I try to imagine how shoud the requirement pertaining to soak band in ASME Section I, PW-39.5.2 be understood:

“The soak band shall be a circle whose radius is equal to the radius at the widest width of the width of the weld attaching the nozzle or attachment to the shell, plus the thickness …”?.

The soak band around the nozzle is a circle which includes every bit of the weld and extended by the smaller of head thickness or 2".
