We’ve seen this before, I think. Now they have “delivered” the first sold vehicle:
From the website: $128,000 current price, with some 523 already booked, so yours won’t deliver until 2028. 20 minutes of flight, 105 km/h max speed, 11 mile range “out of ground effect” at 37 mph cruise speed 750-ish ft. altitude. Where I live in the suburbs, it might be good for a quick trip to the store about 3.5 miles away as the crows fly? But – 210 lbs. max pilot weight, so not much room left there for a case of beer and some chips.
My Dad’s horse growing up had a strong curiosity for helicopters. He met some in the mountains (Army Blackhawks taking some senators on a tour of the backcountry), and a year or so later we had a flight make an uplanned landing in our farm pasture when cloud cover prevented them from getting over Snoqualmie pass about 10 miles from us. Both times he was edging up to the tail and main rotors, sniffing at them. In the pasture, the private left behind to guard the birds was asking me if the horse was going to eat his machine.
But yeah, most critters will spook at the noise (maybe even worse with the high pitched noise these have?), and that could get dangerous if they aren’t paying attention to where they run.
