Does ASME Section 1 or Asme B31.1 limit the number of times a defective weld can be repaired? We have P5A material in the super heater system where some welds were repaired twice…

There is no ASME I or B31.1 Code requirements limiting number of repairs. A number of Owners/Engineers do limit localized repairs to two and consider full cut outs to be new welds. Localized repairs can be more detrimental to service life than if the workmanship defect was left in place.
