Hey dik
Remember this Canadian history?
Brian Mulroney Former Prime Minister of Canada
1984 Led the Progressive Conservatives to a landslide, winning 211 of the 282 seats, the largest seat total in Canadian history.
1988 In his second general election as leader, Mulroney was returned to office, but with a reduced majority.
Going forward, things did not go well;
1991 The Progressive Conservative Party’s popularity reached a low of just over 15% in 1991
1993 With polls showing him facing almost certain defeat in the next election, Mulroney announced his retirement from politics in February 1993
Kim Campbell becomes the Prime minister, and is personally quite popular, but can’t shake the general antagonism of the voters towards the party that was generated by Mulroney.
1993 Election Going in, a healthy majority.
The next day, only two seats in Parliament.
Kim Campbell, the prime Minister and Party Leader loses her seat.
The Conservatives lose official party standing.
They lost all but two of the 156 seats they held when Parliament was dissolved .
If Trump just keeps doing what Trump does, it may work out for the best.
(Depending on your definition of best of course.) grin
It has been a while since this topic has been mentioned. I figured I’d spill the beans on my recent adventures.
I’ll go chronologically as I think it makes more sense that way.
So it would seem my vomiting was just a coincidence and not related.
That was highly un-enjoyable, though I am happy for the negative results since positive ones would have made it even worse having to make all those calls to friends and family again.
No more positive results from coworkers have come up, so it would seem our protocols for preventing infection are working
So far, so good for me too.
I traveled a bit, so I needed to be careful and rely on testing for feedback about how I’m doing. Before traveling to visit family (who live in a city 4-hour flight and 2-hour drive away from my home) I had myself tested and confirmed all clear before getting on the plane. The process at the airport was the expected mask-on all the time and hand-sanitizer after each “gateway” I passed through (security, embark, sit-down, disembark, baggage).
Instead of being picked up by my family, I rented a car to drive to their house. On arrival, I showered and changed. I didn’t go anywhere else, except to visit my sister in the rental car (which had baked in the sun for 4 days). When the visit was over I reversed all these steps to get home although my wife was willing to pick me up at the airport. We had agreed in advance that I would wear an outer layer of clothes on the plane to be removed just before getting in the car (and one last hand-sani).
Now that I’m home, I’m not traveling around, and I will have another covid test on Monday. Results will take a few days, and if I’m negative I will return to work.
Extra steps, for sure, but not difficult. Everything requires more patience and I for one believe that a bit more patience will be good for everyone.
