Along with Andrew Cuomo, Bill DiBlasio, and many others.
They have been pretty candid about it and have all ‘begged’ Trump for help to no avail.

The info from China was originally stifled… and we don’t know how much of it is correct. This is not the issue. We have known about this pandemic for 3 months and have done nothing… China gave the WHO a two month headstart. We had a chance to prepare for it and didn’t. Thousands have died due to this lack of activity.

I’ve lost my sarcasm font again.
I would expect the POTUS to label those reports as “Fake news”.
I’ll be happy with that, Rod.
A small step on a journey that may take several centuries.
As Thomas Hardy said, “…as playthings to the gods. They kill us for their sport.”

Have you not looked for “sarky.ttf”… found it just the other day.
Dik
Found it.
Just don’t know how to use it.
Not true. Andy was in panic mode a few weeks ago, mainly about ventilators, but not recently. Recently, he admitted that FEMA delivered the requested ventilators to a NJ warehouse but NY forgot to pick them up.Now, he’s also talking about how to re-open the city. DiBlasio is just incompetent, even before this happened.
Even though I don’t live in NYC anymore, I still work there and have family there, I keep up with what’s going on. I’ll always be a NY’er.
I didn’t know there was such a font
Here’s the link, Rod.
“That Was Easy”. grin.
I love posting links in this reality.
thanks
dik - I thought this was an interesting story. Plenty of blame to go around.
This is just a little hiccup compared to the total lack of preparedness of the federal government… and if the federal government had have been the central supply of emergency equipment and not the states, this would not likely have happened, either.

The last few days, the US has been over 2000 new fatalities per day. Looking like Trump’s May 1 is looking less likely.
Dik
World deaths per 1 million population = 17.2
US deaths per million population = 86
Ratio = 5:1
They’re down about #15 from the top… not bad for having the most expensive health care in the world… and Cuba with 2 deaths per million (don’t know the accuracy of the numbers).
Dik
(don’t know the accuracy of the numbers)
Hasn’t that been the crux of the matter from the beginning of this pandemic?
Not at all, to me… the big thing is that we have had a two month head start and our governments have squandered it. This lead was provided, after a little shadiness, by China. After a brief holdout, China did provide the genetic information fairly early. A consequence our leaders inactivity, ours to a minor extent, has cost the lives of several thousand people due to the government inertia or stupidty. Trump squarely holds the blame for the deaths of thousands of Americans. The faulty American health system holds some the balance of the blame.
In my opinion a government has very few purposes. One of them, however, is looking after the long term interests of the people. They have failed.
That’s the crux of the matter.

I understand that Cuba has an excellent health care system.
I tried to find references.
The WHO, in 2000 reported Cuba as spending $118 per capita on health care compared to a reported $1 per capita for the US.
Canada was reported as $10 per capita.
The WHO has not published a ranking since 2000.
Bloomberg finds “the U.S. spends the most on health care on a relative cost basis with the worst outcome”[3] and notes Cubans live longer than Americans, but Americans pay more than fourteen times as much for less effective health care.
I was unable to find the original on Bloomberg.com
Wiki also quoted the The Commonwealth Fund.
The Commonwealth Fund ranked seven developed countries on health care, the US ranked lowest of seven.
Australia ranked first and Canada ranked second. the US ranked seventh.
I was unable to verify this on the Commonwealth Fund site, but it appears to be based on the 2000 WHO report.
Thanks for the info… there are going to be a lot of poor folks as a result of this pandemic.
